A model smoke-free policy for a childcare facility prohibits the smoking the smoking of cigarettes, cigars, and all electronic smoking devices (such as electronic cigarettes and personal vaporizers), anywhere on the childcare facility’s property. This includes all childcare affiliated buildings, on facility grounds, including parking lots and playgrounds, in all childcare-owned or –leased vehicles and employee vehicles being used in the course of work. Childcares wanting to reduce exposure to secondhand and thirdhand smoke should also include language about reducing lingering tobacco smoke contaminants in their policy.
