Gold Star Standards
The annual Gold Star Standards of Excellence program has a goal of encouraging, supporting and recognizing Maine’s behavioral health organizations that are addressing smoking and tobacco use by creating and maintaining smoke and tobacco-free policies. Behavioral health organizations and providers seek to optimize the health of clients and employees. Tobacco-free policies are examples of this commitment that benefits clients, employees, and the entire community.2024 Gold Star Standards of Excellence Application Period Closed
Thank you to all Maine Hospitals, Behavioral Health, Healthcare, and Higher Education Organizations that applied for recognition. The awardees will be announced in May 2024.

- Application Period: March 11 – April 26, 2024
- Awardee Notification: May 2024
- Awardee Celebration: June 2024 (during Maine Tobacco Treatment and Prevention Conference)

- Platinum: 10 Standards
- Gold: 8-9 Standards
- Silver: 6-7 Standards
- Bronze: 5 Standards
